While David isn’t a native-born Texan, he is thoroughly Texan, having lived there almost his entire life in North Texas. Currently, he lives in Garland, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) with his wife and two daughters. David is a Texas licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a B.S. in Economics from Texas A&M University, a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a M.A. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Additionally, David taught undergraduate Accounting and Finance as an adjunct instructor at LeTourneau University.
David has over 30 years of professional experience in the fields of accounting and finance, with over 16 years of experience working in the Banking and Financial Services industry. He has worked with such companies as Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, American Express, First Southwest Company (now, HiltopSecurities), Bear Stearns & Co., Goldman Sachs, Inc., General Electric Capital Corporation, Inc., Bluescape Energy Partners, LLC, Pillar Income Asset Management, Inc. and MUFG Capital Analytics, LLC. At Goldman Sachs, Inc., Bluescape Energy Partners and MUFG Capital Analytics, LLC, David worked in Controller or Senior Controller / Associate Director roles. David has also worked with a number of other firms in the roles Controller and International Controller, as well as working with the public accounting firms Weaver and Armanino. Additionally, David has served as the Chief Financial Officer and Secretary for DealerAdvance, Inc., a publicly traded web-based auto dealership software company, and Divisional Chief Financial Officer for LoJack Supply Chain Integrity Inc., a subsidiary of LoJack Corporation, a publicly traded multinational and premier worldwide provider of tracking and recovery systems.
Some of the areas of professional experience and proficiency David has developed include financial accounting and executive management, investment banking, budgetary planning and analysis, turnaround and process improvement, SEC and regulatory reporting, technical accounting research, international accounting and banking, financial reporting and analysis, and system migration and implementation.
Included in his professional experience, David has received Six Sigma Training, and was mentored for four (4) years by an immediate protégée of William Edwards Deming (the “father” of kaizen), subsequently developing and teaching a corporate curricula covering the area of Total Quality Management. Additionally, he was awarded the Texas Chargers Award while at Merrill Lynch, and the President’s Recognition Award while at American Express, Inc.
Also, David has been actively involved in his community as a Republican party precinct chairman and state convention delegate, and serving on the board of a number of non-profit organizations, including the Dallas Life Foundation (a crisis pregnancy center with three locations in Dallas, Texas), where he served five (5) years as the treasurer, as well as being an active member of his local church.
