Jamilah Stephens, SHRM-CP CPO

A longtime resident of East Orange, NJ and a
graduate of Montclair State University, Jamilah has worked to establish a
career in Human Resources that mirrors her upbringing of mentorship.
Growing up, Jamilah observed as her father mentored dozens of young men,
often getting her involved with revising resumes and giving college
advice. This fostered in Jamilah, the ability to be compassionate and
develop the same mentorship skillsets she observed as a young lady. With a
deep commitment to creating spaces that are democratic and diverse,
creating efficient HR systems and processes, supporting employee needs,
and providing guidance to senior leadership, Jamilah has utilized the
Human Resources function to bridge the gap between employers and their
employees.

Jamilah has successfully facilitated and managed
multiple HR functional areas, such as: Talent Acquisition, Project
Administration, Compliance, Employee Relations, HR Management, Training
and Development and Workforce Metric reporting. Having worked in the small
business industry, non-profit industry, and public health care industry,
Jamilah has developed and managed budgets up to $70million, while
supporting a high volume of personnel throughout her career. With a broad
range of HR knowledge and experience in different industries, she has
molded her HR philosophy to one that is people centered. Jamilah continues
to maintain her Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM)
certification, through continued education, and trainings.

With the belief that Human Resources is the backbone
of any organization, Jamilah is committed to the development of strong
organizational cultures that reflect inclusion, diversity, fairness, and
most importantly, are people centered Beyond her professional career,
Jamilah is passionate about equal early childhood education and gardening
as a way towards sustainability.
